Help — how it works & FAQ.

Help and FAQ for every Wordle Find solver and game: how colours and duplicate letters are counted exactly, why the solver gives two different suggestions, how each game here is played, how Bee scoring and Queen Bee work, what a Wordscapes bonus word is, and where your leaderboard lives. Wordle Find is independent and unaffiliated — game names are used descriptively only, and no official daily answers are published anywhere on this site.

How It Works

Three colours, counted exactly

  1. Green — right letter, right place. It’s fixed there.
  2. Yellow — the letter is in the word, but not there.
  3. Grey — trickier than it looks. Grey only means “no more of this letter than the coloured tiles already show.” Guess LLAMA and get one yellow L? The answer has exactly one L — not zero, not two. This solver replays your exact colour pattern against every candidate word, so duplicates can never slip through.
  4. Two suggestions, never blurred. The most likely answer is your best shot at winning this turn. The best information guess may not be an answer at all — it tests the most undecided letters, which is how you escape an –ATCH or –IGHT trap with guesses to spare.
  5. Good openers cover common letters in useful positions: SLATE, CRANE, TRACE, AUDIO and RAISE are all strong first plays.
How does the duplicate-letter counting work?

For every word in the list, the solver works out the exact colour pattern your guess would have produced if that word were the answer — greens first, then yellows limited by how many of the letter remain. Only words whose pattern matches your tiles exactly stay in the results. That is the same rule the game itself uses.

How do you play the Quordle game here?

Four boards hide four different secret words, and you get nine guesses in total. Each guess must be a valid 5-letter word and is played on all four boards at once; every board colours it against its own word, with duplicates counted exactly — a grey tile means that board’s word holds no more of that letter than its green and yellow tiles already show. Guess a board’s word exactly to bank it, and solve all four within nine guesses to win. Daily mode gives everyone the same four words for the day; Practice deals fresh random words every game. The four dots under each keyboard key show that letter’s state on each board separately.

How do you play the Wordscapes game here?

Each level shows a crossword with its words removed and a wheel of letters below it. Swipe across the letters to spell a word (or tap them one by one, or type), and release to try it: if the word belongs in the grid it fills in, including any crossing words that share its letters. Each wheel letter can be used once per word. A real word that fits the letters but isn’t in the crossword is banked as a bonus word worth 5 coins; grid words pay 10 coins plus 2 per letter, finishing a level pays 50, shuffling the wheel is free, and a hint reveals one hidden letter for 100 coins. Clear all ten levels by filling every word — the order is shuffled fresh on every visit, and finishing a level unlocks the next one in that order.

How do you play the Hive (Spelling Bee) here?

Seven letters sit in a hexagon around a gold centre letter. Make words of four letters or more using only those seven letters — letters can be reused as often as you like, but every word must include the centre letter. A 4-letter word scores 1 point, longer words score a point per letter, and a pangram that uses all seven letters adds a 7-point bonus. Ranks run from Beginner to Genius at 70% of the hive’s total points, and Queen Bee means finding every word. Daily gives everyone the same hive for the day; Practice deals random hives. The Hive is Wordle Find’s own game — it is not affiliated with The New York Times.

How does the pangram finder work?

On the Hive page, enter any centre letter and the other six letters of a bee puzzle. The finder searches the game’s word list for every word of four letters or more that uses only those letters and includes the centre, lists the pangrams — words using all seven letters — first, and shows each word’s points. “Play these letters” deals those letters as a practice hive so you can play the puzzle you just checked.

How does the Quordle Solver work?

Quordle is four Wordle boards at once with nine shared guesses. On the Quordle Solver page you type each guess once, then tap its tiles on each of the four boards to match the colours that board gave you. Each board narrows its own word list with the exact duplicate-letter rule, and the best-next-guess is scored across every unsolved board together. It is linked from the Games hub and from the footer.

What is the difference between the two suggestions?

The most likely answer is the remaining answer with the most common letters in the most common positions — your best chance to finish now. The best information guess is chosen from all valid words to split the remaining answers apart as fast as possible, even when it cannot be the answer itself. Turn hard mode on and both suggestions will obey the rule that known greens and yellows must be reused.

Is this affiliated with Wordle or The New York Times?

No. Wordle Find (wordlefind.com) is an independent solver tool. We never publish today’s official answer — you bring your own board, and the solver works out what it can still be.

What are the numbers next to each word?

That is the word’s Scrabble score, shown next to both suggestions and every word in the Full list. It adds up the standard English letter values — 1 point for A, E, I, O, U, L, N, S, T and R, up to 10 for Q and Z. Tap any word to see its score broken down letter by letter, so you can check the maths yourself.

Does anything leave my device?

The solver itself runs entirely in this page, in your browser — your guesses on the solver board are never uploaded. Leaderboard groups and results are saved on your own device so the board survives closing the tab; they are only sent anywhere if shared sync has been connected for this site — the Leaderboard page shows the current sync status.

What are the best starting words for Wordle?

SLATE, CRANE and TRACE are the classic balanced openers — common consonants plus A and E where they most often sit. AUDIO and ADIEU test four vowels at once but leave consonants unknown. Whatever you open with, make the second guess count: if the opener comes back mostly grey, play a word with five completely new letters instead of nudging the same ones.

How do I search the 5 letter word finder by pattern?

Build the pattern on the solver board: a green tile is a letter fixed in that position, a yellow tile is a letter that is in the word but not in that spot, and grey tiles rule letters out — with duplicates counted exactly, so a letter coloured once and grey once means the word holds exactly one of it. Patterns like S_A_E or words ending in ER are just boards with some rows left blank.

Can I get hints without spoiling the answer?

Yes — that is what the hint ladder is for. Count only tells you how many words still fit; First letter reveals one letter of the most likely answer; Best guess only names a strong next guess rather than the answer; Full list is there when you want everything. Wordle Find never publishes today’s official answer and keeps no archive of daily answers.

What is a Wordscapes bonus word?

A real word that can be spelled from the wheel letters but does not belong in that level’s crossword. In the Wordscapes game here it banks 5 coins toward hints. The wordscapes solver from letters on the Wordscapes page is the fastest way to spot them: enter the wheel letters and work through the shortest word groups.

How is Spelling Bee scored, and what is Queen Bee?

A 4-letter word scores 1 point; longer words score a point per letter; a pangram — a word using all seven letters — adds a 7-point bonus. Ranks climb from Beginner to Genius at 70% of the hive’s total points. Queen Bee is not a score: it means finding every single word in the hive, pangrams included.
