The Rules
How Sudoku works
- 9x9 grid, 3x3 boxes. Every row, every column and every 3x3 box must contain the numbers 1 to 9, each exactly once.
- Given numbers are fixed. Bold numbers are part of the puzzle and cannot be changed. Fill the empty cells around them.
- Notes help. Turn Notes on and tap numbers to add small pencil marks to a cell, so you can track candidates before committing.
- Mistakes count, but do not end the game. A number that does not match the solution is shown in red and counts as a mistake — erase it and try again.
- Hint fills one correct cell. Use it when you are stuck; it never counts as a mistake.
- Daily vs Practice. Daily is one puzzle per day for the difficulty you pick — the same puzzle for everyone, changing at midnight UTC. Practice deals a fresh random puzzle every time.
- Every puzzle has exactly one solution. Puzzles are generated here and checked so that only one complete grid fits the given numbers.
